Data and AI for energy, mining and resources

Remote sites, heavy assets and long planning cycles create data of every kind. We help bring it together so teams can plan and respond with more confidence.

Why data and AI matter in energy and mining

Energy, mining and resource companies manage large assets across remote and sometimes harsh locations. Data comes from equipment telemetry, geoscience and drilling surveys, laboratory results, safety systems, fleet management and finance, and some of it is decades old. Bringing it together supports maintenance, production planning, safety and reporting, even where connectivity is limited and the same question is asked at the site, the region and head office.

Typical use cases

  • Asset health and maintenance planning, with reliability engineers reviewing recommendations.
  • Production, throughput and cost reporting that reconciles field and finance data.
  • Geoscience, drilling and sample data management with documented lineage.
  • Technical archive search and summarization with citations to source reports.
  • Safety incident and near-miss analytics that help teams see patterns.
  • Equipment and fleet telemetry analysis for utilization and fuel use.
  • Emissions and sustainability data foundations that trace figures to sources.
  • Logistics and inventory visibility across sites and suppliers.

Data foundations we typically build

Resource foundations assume imperfect connectivity. Edge buffering and staged synchronization move telemetry from sites into a lakehouse on AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud, while historians and streaming pipelines feed near-real-time views for operations. Geospatial and geoscience data sit beside tabular data, using open table formats so that long-lived data remains readable. Master data defines assets, sites and equipment hierarchies, and a metadata catalog records units, sources and quality. Orchestrated batch loads bring in finance, maintenance and laboratory systems, with lineage that supports audit.

Where ARCHR can help

  • Data Modernization: site-to-cloud pipelines with buffering, quality checks and asset master data.
  • Analytics & Reporting: production, maintenance and safety reporting with shared definitions.
  • AI, Agents & Machine Learning: archive search and maintenance assistants that cite sources, with engineers deciding.
  • Cloud: hybrid and edge patterns for remote sites, with cost controls.
  • Strategy & Design: roadmaps sequenced around shutdowns, capital cycles and site capacity.

Governance and privacy context

Operators face safety, environmental, securities and sustainability reporting obligations that differ by jurisdiction and commodity. Technical disclosure rules such as National Instrument 43-101 in Canada and Regulation S-K 1300 in the United States put weight on the traceability of the data behind reports. Where Indigenous communities are involved, data governance principles such as Ownership, Control, Access and Possession (OCAP) may apply to how information is collected, stored and shared. Employee and contractor data fall under privacy law such as Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and operational technology needs its own security practice. We design to support alignment through lineage, access control and documented review. Your legal and compliance teams determine what applies.

Method

What an engagement could look like

01

Discovery & Strategy

Map site, asset and finance data, and agree one use case such as maintenance or reporting, with measures.

02

Pilot & Validation

Pilot at one site, with engineers comparing results against current practice.

03

Build & Scale

Extend to further sites in stages with monitoring, access controls and documented oversight.

04

Optimize & Evolve

Review results and drift with operations, and plan the next use case.

This page is general information about ARCHR services. It describes typical challenges and how an engagement could be designed. It is not legal, financial or medical advice, and it does not assure compliance with any regulation. Regulators and laws are named as context only.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can your approach work with limited site connectivity?

Yes. We design for intermittent links using buffering and staged synchronization, and we agree the approach per site during discovery.

Can AI search our technical archives?

It can help staff search and summarize reports and logs, with citations to the source so engineers can verify the answer.

Do you help with sustainability reporting?

We can help structure the data behind it, so figures trace to their sources. What you report and how remains your decision.

Can you work with geoscience and geospatial data?

Yes. These data types need specialized storage and tools, and we plan for them alongside tabular data and documents.
