Data and AI for healthcare and life sciences

Health organizations hold some of the most sensitive data there is. We help use it responsibly to support operations, research and care teams, with privacy designed in.

Why data and AI matter in healthcare

Hospitals, clinics, payers, laboratories and life sciences companies generate data in electronic records, scheduling systems, devices, claims and research platforms. Used well, it can reduce administrative burden and give leaders a clearer view of capacity, quality and cost. Because the information is highly personal, privacy, consent and de-identification have to be designed before anything is built, and clinical judgment stays with qualified professionals.

Typical use cases

  • Scheduling, capacity and wait-time analytics for operations leaders.
  • Administrative document summarization, with staff reviewing and correcting outputs.
  • Billing and coding support in which trained coders confirm suggestions.
  • Patient access and call center assistants limited to non-clinical questions.
  • Supply chain and inventory forecasting for hospitals and laboratories.
  • Research data discovery across de-identified datasets, with controlled access.
  • Quality, safety and outcomes reporting built on traceable measures.
  • Program and population-level reporting for public health and payer teams.

Data foundations we typically build

Health data foundations typically include a lakehouse or data warehouse on AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud, hosted in the regions your policy requires. Interfaces use healthcare standards such as HL7 and Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) where they are available. De-identification, tokenization and master patient index practices separate identity from analytic data, while consent, purpose and role-based access are enforced in the platform. Lineage, quality checks and a metadata catalog document where each measure comes from, and encryption with managed keys and full access logging protects the estate.

Where ARCHR can help

Governance and privacy context

Health privacy rules differ by jurisdiction: for example Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and other provincial health privacy laws in Canada, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) in the United States, and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe, alongside general privacy law such as Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Software that influences clinical decisions may fall under medical device regulation, which is why we keep our work on operational, administrative and research uses. Research data may also be subject to ethics board oversight. We design to support alignment with these expectations through minimization, de-identification, access logging and human review. Your privacy officer and counsel determine what applies, and our work is not medical advice.

Method

What an engagement could look like

01

Discovery & Strategy

Map data sources, privacy constraints and owners, and agree one non-clinical workflow and its measures.

02

Pilot & Validation

Pilot on de-identified or synthetic data, with privacy leads approving any move to real data.

03

Build & Scale

Extend in stages with monitoring, access controls and documented oversight.

04

Optimize & Evolve

Review outcomes, quality and drift with staff, and plan the next workflow.

This page is general information about ARCHR services. It describes typical challenges and how an engagement could be designed. It is not legal, financial or medical advice, and it does not assure compliance with any regulation. Regulators and laws are named as context only.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do you provide clinical decision support?

No. We focus on operational, administrative and research data work. Clinical decisions remain with qualified professionals, and any tool near clinical workflows needs its own review.

Can pilots avoid using real patient data?

Often, yes. Pilots can start with de-identified or synthetic data, and move to controlled access only once privacy leads approve.

Where would health data be hosted?

That is decided with your privacy team. We commonly plan for regional data residency (for example Canada, the United States or the European Union, as your policy requires) on AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud, with encryption, access logging and defined retention.

Can you work with research and clinical trial data?

Yes, with strict access controls, de-identification and documented lineage. Study design and scientific conclusions remain with your researchers.
